The Go at Your Own Pace Walking, Rambling, Sitting About and Having a Nice Time Club is a bit more casual than most walking clubs. They meet only on the sunniest Sundays, and their jaunts have been known to stretch into Monday morning thanks to regular stops for light refreshments, water-bottle refills and a good sit down. Even they were shocked when the newest recruit turned up in sandals. An emergency meeting was called at the nearest tea room. “We understand the cooling effects of a pair of Birkenstocks, but what about puddles, or getting dog muck stuck between your toes? The membership form clearly states that boots must be worn at all times.” Just as his membership looked doomed, he unbuttoned his shirt to reveal that he had been wearing boots all along, albeit printed across his chest.
