OPERATION BUBBLE
Here's a little-known slice of history you can repeat to your mates...
In 1964, at the height of Cold War, the US secret service set up a clandestine operation known as 'Operation Bubble'. The mission? To fly tens of thousands of Aero Mint chocolate bars to their undercover operatives in Eastern Europe who were sincerely missing the bubbly texture of Nestlé's finest. The American government spent over 140 million dollars on the mission, as at the time, the morale of undercover agents was considered the utmost importance. 'Operation Bubble' was an unequivocal failure of course – nearly all of the of the pilots were immediately captured by Soviet forces as soon as they landed terra firma. Yep, it was those big bubbly coats that gave 'em away.
