The Norwegian welt is the reason for the Michael. The upper is turned outwards and stitched through twice, visibly, which makes it about as water resistant as a stitched shoe gets and lets it be resoled more or less indefinitely. Paraboot make this one in France. Grained calf, natural rubber sole, and a last that runs generous, so Paraboot themselves suggest going half a size down.
