Barbour have been waxing cotton in South Shields since 1894, which means the knitwear tends to get overlooked. The Whitworth is wool with ten per cent cashmere in it at a 10 gauge knit, fine enough to go under a jacket and soft enough to wear over a shirt. Alcantara patches sit on the sleeves and the right shoulder, a shooting detail that has quietly turned into a styling one.
