The Cats 5000 is the plastic framed aviator, first made by Bausch and Lomb in the 1980s and sold as a ski and glacier glass, which is why it sits closer to the face than a wire aviator does. Ray-Ban itself goes back to a 1936 prototype for American pilots and the metal Aviator patent that followed in 1937. This is the black on grey version, fifty nine millimetre lens, no polarisation.
