A throat latch is the extra tab and button that lets you close a shirt right up to the neck, and RRL have put one on this because that is what a 1940s work shirt had. The corduroy carries a shadow plaid print, and there is twill facing hidden under the collar, inside the cuffs and behind the pocket flaps. The back yoke is cut western, which is the detail that stops it looking like an ordinary cord shirt.
