The point of PERTEX SHIELD AIR is that it genuinely passes air, at 0.2cc per square centimetre per second, which a normal waterproof membrane does not do at all. So it sheds heat while you are still moving rather than turning into a greenhouse. The zip runs from the underarm all the way to the hem on three sliders, so you can vent it in stages without stopping to take it off.
