Neo Marine Knitwear Pilgrim

Neo Marine Knitwear Pilgrim was last spotted on a fishing boat leaving Whitby, where he'd been conducting a fairly serious search for Dracula. Unfortunately, somewhere between looking for vampires and trying not to get sea sick, he noticed Norway on the other side of the water. He also noticed a fella on an even smaller fishing boat than his, wearing an even better knit than his. This got him thinking... not about fish, obviously, but knitwear. Specifically, fishermen's knitwear. And so, with Dracula temporarily knocked down the list of priorities, Neo decided he was embarking on a pilgrimage to discover the finest maritime jumpers Europe has to offer.

Neo's particularly interested in the regional differences. Apparently, a fisherman from one part of Europe wouldn't dream of wearing the same knit as a fisherman from somewhere else, and Neo intends to get to the bottom of it. Every coastline has its own traditions, patterns and particular woolly business, and he's determined to collect the lot. Whether it's a proper chunky Norwegian fisherman number or some obscure regional knit that only three elderly chaps in a remote harbour know how to make, Neo wants one. He's not particularly interested in souvenirs, magnets or those little decorative lighthouses you get in seaside gift shops. Just knitwear. And possibly a map.

Now, his next stop is Norway, where he plans to investigate the local fishing communities and see what sort of knitted business they've got going on. He's currently looking for fellow pilgrims to join him on the expedition, preferably people who know their way around a decent jumper and don't mind a bit of sea spray. Dracula can wait. The important thing is that Europe's maritime knitwear heritage doesn't disappear without somebody having a good rummage through it. If anyone fancies joining him, make sure you pack light. Neo's allocated most of the luggage space to knitwear.
