Horse Power is a pretty illuminating documentary from the folks at Complex about how a merry band of Polo-obsessed, working-class kids from Brooklyn known as the Lo Lifes made Ralph Lauren an inextricable part of hip-hop culture.
The testimonials from contemporary hip-hop artists on Ralph’s imprint on the culture is interesting, but it’s the chucklesome pageantry of a 2017 Lo Life reunion that earns this doc a spot on the hallowed Oi Polloi blog. Without spoiling too much, it’s a bit like a clobber-based battle rap that swaps out lacerating bars for highly-sought after Polo gear.
Needless to say, it’s very dope indeed.
