Joe Meek was the production mastermind behind such hit-parade heavy hitters as ‘Telstar’ by The Tornados, ‘Johnny Remember Me’ by John Leyton and ‘Have I the Right’ by The Honeycombs. He also made what may have been the world’s first ‘outer space music fantasy album’, spent his evenings in graveyards trying to communicate with the dead, and murdered his long-suffering landlord with a shotgun. An interesting chap I’m sure you’ll agree. Anyway, the above documentary gives a fairly solid account of his mildly bizarre life, and whilst it might seem a bit dated, is still most definitely worth a watch.
