You can tell a lot about a bloke by what’s in the boot of his motor. In Nige’s case, it’s a collection of Nikes worth a fair bit more than the vehicle they’re sat in. The odd bit of bird muck only adds to the charm!
Our head honcho has a huge collection of vintage Nike trainers, and this interest didn’t start last Tuesday. Back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, he was already rooting around sports shops for old running shoes, with Bourne Sports in Stoke among his hunting grounds. A perfectly reasonable reason to go to Stoke, if you ask us.

That appetite for finding things is a big part of what made Oi Polloi happen. Looking a bit harder. Getting excited about a shape or a colour. Understanding why someone might need another pair of trainers when, technically speaking, they’ve already got feet covered until about 2086.
Some people would put this lot behind glass. Here, we’ve got a footwear exhibition you could reverse into a parking space. No admission fee, no little headphones explaining what you’re looking at. Just Nige, some very good Nikes and a motor doing considerably more than the weekly big shop.
Probably best to shut the boot before the pigeons spot anything else they like.
