The extra foam layer is the difference here. Birkenstock have added cushioning to the original contoured cork footbed, keeping the deep heel cup and shaped arch support that make the Boston what it is. The upper is soft suede in Carafe, a dark coffee brown, with matching suede lining across the footbed. One adjustable strap does the fastening, with a metal pin buckle to finish it off. Brown suede, closed toe, no great announcement. You can leave the white socks on.
