Nathan Clark got the idea while serving in Burma, from rough suede boots officers had made to order in the bazaar in Cairo. Clarks date his design to 1950, and count beatniks, mods, Britpop bands and Jamaican rude boys among the people who have worn it since. This one is cola suede on a natural rubber crepe sole, lined in leather.
