Devold makes the Nansen from merino wool, with the tight knit keeping a thick sock from bunching up inside a boot. The ribbed welt gives it a stable hold, while the wool naturally resists odour, so Devold says it rarely needs washing and can simply be aired out. The Falcon colour keeps the traditional wool-sock business fairly quiet. Eighty per cent merino is doing most of the talking anyway.
