Hightide started in Fukuoka in 1994, and their Penco range began in 1999 with a single American-made ballpoint whose shape gave the brand its name. This is a plier stapler in steel, squeezed in the hand rather than pressed on a desk, with a hammer-tone finish that resists scratches and rust. It takes standard No.10 staples, which are not in the box. Hightide say that from the side it looks like a dog's face, and once seen it cannot be unseen.
