There is a HydroGuard waterproof membrane inside this version of the Fusion XC, which is what the WP stands for. Karhu built it on Fulcrum, the system they developed with the University of Jyväskylä in 1986, with Air Cushion alongside and a T-profile lug sole underneath. The upper is suede and leather over reflective mesh, and the tongue is gusseted to keep the muck out. Karhu is Finnish for bear, and the company has gone by it since 1920.
