New Balance built the 2002 in 2010 as a top of the line runner, made in their American factories and priced at 250 dollars, which is why hardly anyone bought it at the time. It came back in 2020 as the 2002R with the same stack of cushioning: ABZORB through the midsole, an SBS unit at the heel, N-ergy underneath and a Stability Web plate holding the arch.
