Norse Projects based the Norse Standard beanie on the classic watch cap, standard issue for the US military in the cold through much of the last century. It is merino lambswool knitted in a plain 1x1 rib, 5 gauge and two ply, with a small Norse tab at the front. One size. Clay, a softer colour than any watch cap was ever issued in.
