Canvas, natural rubber, no glue. Novesta still make the Star Master in Partizánske, in the factory Jan Antonín Baťa opened there in the 1930s, bonding the cotton upper to the sole with heat and pressure. The rubber is mixed and folded in the same plant before the soles are cut, and that plant also makes tyres for European tyre makers. Chocolate, for anyone who finds white plimsolls a commitment too far.
