Portuguese Flannel goes back to 1927, when João Magalhães started up near Guimarães, and it is still the same family running the mills four generations later. The Gem is a short sleeve linen shirt with the pattern woven through the cloth rather than printed on it, so it is a good deal more interesting up close than it looks across a room. Mother of pearl buttons, a chest pocket, and a body cut slightly long so it stays put if you want it tucked.
